BIO Born in 1971, Kouichirou Eto graduated from Keio University graduate school of Media and Governance. In his relatively short career he has compiled many accomplishments in new media and Internet projects. LONGER PROFILE Born in 1971, Kouichirou Eto graduated from Keio University graduate school of Media and Governance. In his relatively short career he has compiled a long list of accomplishments in new media and Internet projects. Even before Eto had graduated from college, he had many impressive accomplishments. As a junior in college he joined Fujihata Lab for computer arts research. He released "RealPanopticon"(1995) at IC'95 "on the Web - The Museum Inside The Network -". at the InterCommunicationCenter in Tokyo, Japan. He was involved in directing and producing "WebHopper"(1996) for "sensorium" Internet project. The"sensorium" project was awarded the Golden Nica Award of the 1997 Prix Ars Electronica .net field. In 1997 he unveiled "WebHopper @ AEC" at the Ars Electronica Festival. After its initial display, the work was stored as part of the Ars Electronica Center's permanent collection. He released "RemotePiano"(1996,1997) in the concert "MUSIC PLAYS IMAGE x IMAGE PLAYS MUSIC" by Ryuichi Sakamoto and Toshio Iwai (1996; Art Tower Mito, 1997; ARS ELECTRONICA, Ebisu Garden Hall). At the same time, he released "RemotePiano installation" with Ryuichi Sakamoto and Toshio Iwai at the InterCommunicationCenter. In 1998, he co-produced "SoundCreatures" at ARTLAB8(Hillside Plaza), which got the honrary mention at Prix Ars Electronica. Interactive Art Category, and the work is shown at "CyberArts99"(O.K. Center for Contemporary Arts), at Ars Electronica99. In 1999, "SoundCreatures on the Web", a new work co-produ ced with ARTLAB(only in the Internet) is released. PROFILE in Japanese 江渡 浩一郎/えと こういちろう 1971年生まれ、慶應義塾大学大学院政策・メディア研究科卒業、藤幡ラボでコンピュー タ・アートの研究を行う。ネットワークを用いた活動歴は長く、インターネットを利 用した活動や作品制作をいちはやく手掛ける。 ICCプレイヴェント「IC'95on the Web−ネットワークの中のミュージアム−」では 「RealPanopticon」(1995)を発表。ネットワーク上のプロジェクト sensorium(セン ソリウム)にて、「WebHopper」(1996)のディレクション及び制作を行う。sensorium は、97年ArsElectronica .net部門にてGolden Nica賞を受賞。ArsElectronica Festivalでは「WebHopper @ AEC」(1997)を発表した。ほか、「PeepHole」(1993)、 「DotPaint」(1995)などがある。 ●short 江渡 浩一郎 (えと こういちろう) : 1971年生まれ。国際メディア研究財団に所属す るメディア・アーティスト。sensoriumの他、岩井俊雄・坂本龍一のコンサート "MPIXIPM"にて、RemotePianoというパフォーマンスを行う。sensoriumでは、 WebHopperなどを製作している。
WORKS ●SoundCreatures (Canon ARTLABにて 1998〜) ・ネットワークを介して共同で音空間を作っていく作品。実際のロボットが会場で動 きまわる。ロボットは他のロボットと接触するたびに音情報を交換し、全体の音楽は ゆるやかに変化していく。参加者はロボットにコマンドを送ることにより変化をうな がすことができる。 →SoundCreatures on the Web (1999〜) ・SoundCreaturesをネットワーク空間上で体験できるようにしたもの。 一台のロボットに乗り移ったような視点から、音の変化を楽しむことができる。 ●sensorium (Internet World Expo 1996 テーマパヴィリオンとして 1996〜) ・竹村真一氏をプロデューサーとし、数十人からなるチームにて構成されている。 アルス・エレクトロニカ1997のnet部門グランプリ受賞。 →WebHopper (sensorium内 1996〜) ・ユーザーが今現在世界中のどこのWebサイトをアクセスしているかのリアルタイム の視覚化。WebサイトからWebサイトの移動を地図上の線で表現した。 ・同じ作品をインスタレーション仕様としアルスエレクトロニカセンター内に常設展示。 →Night and Day (sensorium内 1998〜) ・世界中のネットカメラを一つの画面内に構成し、世界中の昼と夜を同時に見る作品。 ●RemotePiano (1996〜) ・インターネットを使った参加型パフォーマンス。坂本龍一と岩井俊雄のコンサート 中にネットを通じて見ている観客が会場にあるピアノを演奏できるというシステムを 構築し、パフォーマンスした。 ・同じシステムをICCのロビーにて展示した。 ●坂本龍一オペラLIFEのインターミッション演出を担当 (1999) ●RealPanopticon (ICC, 1995) ・InterCommunication'95 "on the Web"にて発表した作品。このWebサイトに訪れた 人が、サイト内のページを移動する様子をリアルタイムにヴィジュアライズする作品。 ・同時にイベント全体のディレクション。 ●オーロラウェブ (1998) ・現在地球上のどこにオーロラがでているのかを、観測衛星からの画像を元に毎日 アニメーションでビジュアライズする。 ・他、サイト全体のディレクション。 ●ジョイメカファイト (任天堂, 1993) ・ロボット対戦格闘ゲーム。
